The powerfully-built industrial building Thor Central was given listed status once the mine had been decommissioned. A search began to find a meaningful use for the former Waterschei colliery, which included the option of turning the site into a technology park, so as to give this magnificent building a new future.
Thor Central is the hub and heart of the Thor Park site. The Food Plaza is well worth a visit, with the Partaasch restaurant and the Lampada brasserie open to the public every day. The building also caters for the corporate world with meeting rooms, an auditorium, central reception and even a crèche. Exhibitions and events are regularly mounted here.
