If you want to shop in attractive and pleasant surroundings, Genk is the place to be. After all, Genk has several shopping centres, each with its own character and atmosphere.

Are you visiting our shops? Then come at less busy times: on Mondays, Tuesdays or mornings and after 4 p.m. on other days. That way it remains pleasant shopping for everyone. To provide sufficient opportunity for staggered shopping, we have also chosen to keep the shopping Sundays.

The city centre of Genk

Are you looking for clothing stores with an original twist and boutiques that are unique? Or would you rather stroll around one of Genk’s many markets? When you go for a shopping spree in Genk, better not wear your tallest stiletto heels: with no fewer than 400 shops, totalling more than 60,000 m2 of shopping fun, Genk is one of Limburg’s biggest shopping destinations. And don't worry when it rains: just go to one of the three indoor shopping centres in the city centre.

By the way – Shopping 1 is a legend in Belgium’s shopping history: inaugurated way back in 1968, it’s the country’s very first indoor shopping centre. Its attractive ambiance is well worth a visit even if the sun is shining outside. This venue was recently given a complete makeover, including an expansion that added a range of new shops. Still have a shopping itch that needs scratching? We’re pretty sure you’ll find something you’ll like in Shopping 2, Shopping 3 or in the shopping streets between the Grote Markt (central square) and the city hall.

If you want a break from shopping, there are plenty of cozy brasseries around. And when the weather’s inviting, how could you resist the many terrace cafés around town? The spacious, smartly designed city library is yet another one of Genk’s must-see buildings.

To top all that off, you can park your car in Genk’s (underground) car parks at very low prices. The Shopping 1 car park is currently offering free parking for one and a half hours. Free parking is also available within walking distance of the city centre, on the Europalaan near the Molenvijverpark and on the parking lot of the Limburghal.
